After a record of about three decades in marriage, a woman in Jingre, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State has axed her husband to death in order to escape to marry her lover.
Facts available to us said the woman, Mrs. Respa Andrew allegedly commited the offence on April 15 shortly after her husband came back from a journey.
Saturday Sun gathered that her husband already knew that his wife had a lover who had been showering money on her and of her intention to dump the marriage and hook on the lover. The man was said to have pleaded with her to let him come back from his journey for them to thrash out the issue.
On his arrival, it was learnt that the members of the family had ate and prayed together before they retired for the night. At about 3.30 am, the wife got up, had a bathe before going for the murder instrument which she allegedly smashed her husband's head with. After losing so much blood, the man was rushed to hospital only to be confirmed dead by doctors.
After commiting the act, the woman was said to have rushed to her first son's room (who is about 28 years old) to wake him up and inform him that an unknown person came into the house to attack their father. Seeing his condition, an alarm was raised an neighbours came in to see what had happened.
Looking around the house, they saw no sign of breakage and with no sign of bewilderment on the wife, they became suspicious of her and reported the matter to the police.
A search conducted in the house led to the recovery of the axe and her towel soaked with blood.
Raspa was arrested two days later and during interrogation by Police, she confessed having commited the offence.
The Police Public Relation Officer, ASP Isa Adejo who confirmed the story said when the lady was taken before the Commissoner of Police, Mr Joseph Apapa and asked why she commited the offence, she did not say a word but only asked for permission to go home feed her baby.
