Smiles of relief greeted the news yesterday of eight-year-old Ada's HIV/AIDS test, as she was pronounced negative.
But little Ada is not off danger list yet, as steps have been taken to carry out more tests, that would include various blood tests for Syphillis and hepatitis.
Eight-year-old Ada was repeatedly sexually defiled by their neighbour Charles, who knew he was HIV positive. Charles has been sexually molesting the primary school pupil for the past one year. She was also later defiled by another neighbour, identified as Monday, who is now on the run.
Charles dastardly practice was discovered after Ada became sick and was not responding to any medication.
According to Deaconess Olufemi Kayode, owner of the Media Concern for Women and Children, a non-governmental organization, (NGO) fighting for Ada, an HIV test was carried out on Ada yesterday morning by a professional doctor and it came out negative. She explained that the other tests, which would soon be carried out are to ascertain the reason for the rashes on Ada's body and her body swelling.
Charles, whose wife is late, would be dragged before the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) at the State Police Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Panti, by the office of the public defender tomorrow.
The victim, Ada told Daily Sun that her friend, Bose, nine year-old, in the same compound, had once told her that Charles use to sexually molest her too.
The suspect, had however denied all the allegations of molesting Ada, Bose and Ada's younger sister; Ada had accused Charles of also poking fingers into her younger sister's vagina.
