The executive chairman of Gokana local government council, Chief (Hon.) Fred Barivure Kpakol has completed no fewer than six new projects he initiated under the current dispensation.

Interestingly, all the projects have direct bearing on the lives of the rural dwellers as they have been applauded and described in various terms by members of the communities where they are sited.
However, some of the projects are capital intensive, but their need and elegance automatically stomach such huge expenses, attracting steady ovations from both admirers and critics.
Some of the projects include a modern market with convenience and social facilities located at B. Dere, as well as the reactivated neighbourhood water scheme sited in each of the 17 traditional towns and villages that make up the LGA.
There is also the functional street lightning project, which runs from Deken through Kpopie to Mogho junction and terminates at Bodo city along Axis 'A'.
The same people oriented project connects Dere (B&K) with Bomu communities along the 'B' Axis.
Reports have testified that the emergence of the street lights about two months ago have improved socio-economic activities among the people, as businesses are now transacted far into the night while, the evil minded elements find it difficult to operate under the floodlight.
The police and security operatives in the Gokana Division also have a feel of this new trend as a fence was not only constructed round the station, but complete renovation work was effected on most of the quarters, in addition to the provision of a van for security patrol.
The local government council secretariat at Kpor appears to be the most expensive and attractive among the project under construction by Chief Kpakol
Its cost could not be ascertained immediately, but an inside source said it runs into hundreds of millions of Naira.
Journalists who visited the area recently described the council secretariat as symbol of determination and commitment, which also carries along with it, the true signal of beauty and cost.
One thing common about these projects is that, except may be, one or two of them all were initiated, financed and now completed in just 365 days by the Chief Fred Kpakol-led administration.
Others that had not been completed as at Monday this week, showed positive sign of completion by Wednesday of the same week.
This is true especially following rumours that the state Chief Executive, Governor Odili could make a one-day official visit to the LGA at any moment before April elapses.

He was reported to have paid constant visits to the project sites to ensure that things went ahead as expected.
The same action, according to our source, was extended to activities at the site earmarked to serve as the chairman's lodge leading to earlier completion.
Supervisor for Health in the council, who is also the Rivers State president of Ex-Councilors Forum, Hon. Kpee Temple Gbaranor told our correspondent that Kpakol has resolved that his entire action this time around will be directed towards activities and establishment of programmes that will better the lot of the people.
Of course, that appears to be what it going on in Gokana today, our findings confirmed.
