Thirteen children were yesterday recovered from the clutches of two suspected human traffickers in Asaba, Delta State capital by officers and men of the Delta State Police Command.

Thirteen children were yesterday recovered from the clutches of two suspected human traffickers in Asaba, Delta State capital by officers and men of the Delta State Police Command.
The children whose ages range between 10 and 15 years, according to the police, were intercepted by officers of the Kwale Police Division following a tip-off on the movement of the children, who were about being taken out of Kwale to Lagos.
The children, alongside the suspected traffickers were paraded yesterday at the police headquarters.
One of the suspected traffickers, who identified himself as Pastor Moses Enebeli of Horeb the Mountain of God Church, with headquarters at 39 Akala Street, Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the state said he was taking the children away to Lagos to train them as a way of helping the less privileged in the society, stressing that most of the children were orphans.
The 36-year-old pastor, who said he is from Eziuno in the Ukwuani Local Government said he started the business of helping the less privileged since 2005 and has helped several people.
On the plans he had for the children, he said he wanted to send the 13 children to school after which he would have sent them to a skills acquisition centre owned by his Indian friend.
The Delta Police Command spokesman, Mr. Banawi said the children will be taken back to their parents.
'The parents of the kids are even with us here now as I am speaking with you. And these children are less than 18 years of age.
It is not possible for someone to just take them and say he is going to train them just like that.
'I want to assure members of the public that we will not relent in our efforts in making Delta State a peaceful state," he said. Disclosing what the police is doing to ensure a crime free yuletide in the state, the PPRO said: 'We are into the ‘ember' months and you know this is the period when crime is expected the most.
Our men are on 24-hour red alert duty and we are even giving out some of our telephone numbers and urging members of the public to give us information.
'As my commissioner of police had said before, and I am reiterating that today, we are only going to advise the peaceful citizens of Delta State. As for the criminals, Delta is going to be too hot. It is either they leave the state or they stay and face the wrath of the law."
