Mother of the 22-year-old boy who beheaded his father at the Badagry area of Lagos have claimed that the boy have been experiencing flashes of insanity for years. The priestess of the shrine where the incident happened Roseline Ayobah Owhe, however said she didn't detect any traces of madness in the boy but a spiritual attack.

The accused, Segun Ajasa, on Monday said he killed his father, Akin Ajasa, because the deceased attempted to use him for ritual at a shrine in a village, called Ilado. According to Segun, he decided to strike first, before his father would do same.

The mother of the accused, Mrs Folake Ajasa however insisted that Segun has been mad for a while, a claim the accused himself steadfastly denied as he recounted his experience at the shrine without adding or subtracting from the story. Asked if he had ever been mad, Segun said! 'Me? Never! Nothing is wrong with me!?

While insisting that her son has mental problem, Mrs Ajasa said: 'No, he is mad, I have proof, we've been carrying him everywhere. We've been to many hospitals. It subsided but started again on Saturday. I ran to tell my friend Roseline. It was his father and I that took him to the shrine.

She prepared some herbs, which he took. His eyes that were unnatural became normal and clear. On Monday, I went to buy the things Roseline, the priestess required for the sacrifice to heal him.
'I was returning when I got a call. I was in a bus. They said Segun has chopped off the head of his father."

The story of Folake got a spook in the wheels when Roseline Ayabah Owhe countered that when Segun was brought to her, she was told he couldn't sleep and eat.
'Nobody told me he was mad! The mother told me that he couldn't sleep and eat. When I checked him I discovered that he had a spiritual attack witchcraft! I gave water, mixed with soft drink. I used it to bath him. It was his mother who said I should shave him so that whatever we used to bath him, will go to work well. That Sunday, was the first time they brought him to me," said Owhe.
