This suggestion was made by an AD top-notcher, Honourable Olufemi Adebanjo, during an interview with Daily Sun in Lagos.
A former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly and presently chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Honourable Adebanjo said it became very imperative for the president to declare his personal assets, to show the government's
seriousness and transparency about the anti-corruption crusade.
The former law-maker explained that many Nigerians including himself don't believe that the government is serious about the anti-graft war because of the manner those accused of corruption in the past were treated with kid-gloves.
Adebanjo argued that in order for the Federal Government's anti-graft war to be effective, prosecution of corrupt government officers should not be seen to be selective while there should be no sacred cows in government.
Said he: "My attitude to the present Federal Government's war against corruption is that those already arrested or identified were those who fell out with the present federal administration or those that have been used and dumped."
He said further: "How do we believe a president that has continued to flout the Supreme Court's order that the Federal Government should release immediately the withheld Federal Revenue allocations meant for Lagos State councils."
He recalled that the Supreme Court in its judgment on a case filed by the Lagos State Government against the Federal Government over the withdrawal of Lagos Councils' funds, ordered the Federal Administration to release the funds without any condition attached.
But five months after, the Federal Government is still foot-dragging about the court order and creating its own conditions for payment, thus breaching the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which the president swore to uphold.
Honourable Adebanjo said that what President Obasanjo has done, showed that he is a dictator and does not believe in the rule of law.
