Another air mishap was averted in the nation's aviation industry on Monday evening when a Chanchangi aircraft developed a hydraulic leakage.

The aircraft, however, landed safely at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

A source close to the airline confirmed to our correspondent that the aircraft, which left Lagos at exactly 3.30 pm, successfully got to Abuja at about 4.30 pm but developed hydraulic leakage on landing.

The source said that no passenger was injured and there was no damage to the aircraft.

But he said that the aircraft could not get to its parking lot as a result of the problem.

The incident came barely three days after the Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, and a former Special Assistant to President Olusegun Obasanjo, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere; along with several others had the landing of their aircraft aborted due to power outage at the Benin airport.

There have been many cases of near air mishaps in the country in the recent times.

Between 2005 and 2006, over 200 people lost their lives in three plane crashes involving ADC, Belview and Sosoliso aircraft.

The federal government has taken far reaching decisions to address the problems in the aviation industry and one of the major policies is the ban on aircraft of over 25 years old in the nation's airspace.
