THE deportation of six year old Great Agbonlahor and his family on Tuesday evening has sparked a public outcry as supporters fear the worst for the family in their new life in Nigeria.
Olivia Agbonlahor (36) and her twins Great and Melissa had settled in Killarney. They were arrested at the Garda National Immigration Bureau in Dublin on Tuesday afternoon and were taken to Dublin Airport to be placed on a flight to Lagos.
An application by the Agbonlahor?s solicitor Kevin Brophy on Tuesday morning to seek an injunction against the deportation at the High Court was refused by Judge Garreth Sheahan.
Principal of St Olivers National School in Ballycasheen, Killarney, Rory Darcy also expressed his disappointment. It is disappointing that we find ourselves in this position. We were not talking about setting a legal precedent, all we wanted to do was help a little boy. I wish them well whereever they will end up. The family are in our thoughts and prayers,? he said.
