An Osogbo magistrate's court yesterday ordered nine masquerades to be remanded at Ilesa federal prison for allegedly invading and distrupting religious activities in a mosque in Osogbo.
The masquerades were last Sunday in Osogbo around 2p.m. at Olu-Ode area, breached public peace by invading the mosque where members of Kamarudeen Islamic Society, Osogbo, were praying.
During the incident, no fewer than five persons were allegedly attacked by the masquerades.
Policemen at Oja-Oba divisional police station had to intervene to prevent what could have resorted to a bloody crisis.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Joshua Olayemi, comfirmed the incident, adding that nine suspected masquerades have been arrested by the police.
He said they were subsequently charged before Osogbo magistrate's court for breach of public peace, assaults and malicious damage to public property.
