Cyber crime: EFCC cooperates with microsoft


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has gone into partnership with computer giant, Microsoft, in the bid to tackle the menace posed by the rampancy of cyber crime in the country.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has gone into partnership with computer giant, Microsoft, in the bid to tackle the menace posed by the rampancy of cyber crime in the country.

The Coordinator of the Fix Nigeria Initiative, of the EFCC, Mr. Chido Onumah, made the comment during a workshop organised with PADDI, a non-governmental organisation, on Cyber crimes in Owerri on Thursday.

He said that EFCC had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Microsoft to help the country identify the perpetrators of such nefarious acts and ensure restoration of the monies being lost to the disturbing trend among others.

He stated that the decision to venture into the parnership with Microsft on the onslaught against internet fraud was informed by the neccesity for an advanced technology as a strategic tool in the campaign against the scourge.

Onumah stated that with the cooperation between the EFCC and Microsoft, the computer guru was expected to render technical assistance, neccessary information for enforcement, sposorship of seminars and training specifically designed for security operatives, of the EFCC.
