LAGOS (AFP) - At least six people were killed and several trapped when a three-storey building under construction collapsed in southwest Nigeria, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported Tuesday.
The incident occurred in Ojoo area of Ibadan on Monday, NAN said.
One man, whose name was given as Wasiu, survived unscathed because he had left his co-workers to relieve himself in a nearby bush when the building caved in.
NAN said scores of rescuers had converged on the site to assist in searching for those trapped in the rubble.
Cases of buildings collapsing in Nigeria are common due to the use of sub-stardard materials and disregard of regulations.
