A member of the Kano State House of Assembly (name withheld) was on Thursday rescued from the mercy of a gang of ‘spirits' by detectives of the Nigeria Police, but not before he had been duped of N 4.7 million.
Police sources disclosed that some members of the gang have been rounded up, some where around 9th mile, just before the famous Dawanu town, in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of the state while a manhunt for the remaining members of the gang has since intensified.
According to sources, while four members of the gang, which includes a 13-year-old Primary 6 pupil, are currently in the custody of the police, the remaining two could not be picked as they fled at the arrival of the plain clothe detectives to their base.
The fate of the notable law maker in the state was sealed when the suspected criminals cashed on a recent robbery against the lawmaker in his country home in Dawakin Tofa, which left him disraught, to siphon him of his money.
It was gathered that sequel to the robbery incident, a female member of the gang who is currently at large, had put a call across to the already traumatized robbery victim, claiming to be a spirit, with vast supernatural powers to end the unsuspecting lawmaker various problems but on the sole condition that the man would obey and submit himself to the various instructions of the spirit.
From this point, the victim was held spellbound and unbelievably had been subscribing to various instructions of the ‘spirit', in the search for cure against the misfortunes afflicting him.
One such directives was to go to various locations in the city to drop various quantity of money to a small, innocent boy, which turned out to be a 13-year-old boy, already tutored by the gang on what to do.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Baba Mohammed while confirming the story, noted that luck however ran out on the gang when the man upon going to drop the last batch of three hundred thousand naira with the same boy, suddenly changed his
