Alhaji Razaq Akanni Okoya, chairman of Eleganza Group of Companies, yesterday blocked the Lekki-Epe Express Road, creating a big crisis for thousands of motorists plying the route.
Okoya who was said to be hosting a wedding ceremony at his housing Estate, about 200 metres from the Victoria Garden city (VGC) used the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) militants to block the express road, leading to an unprecedented traffic that lasted till this morning. Many of the residents of the area from VGC to Epe had to abandon their vehicles late last night after spending several hours in the traffic.
While many of the vehicles from the Epe end were advised to turn back, many workers who were going home from office had to turn back when the situation became hopeless. Many resorted to calling their respective homes that they would be back if the traffic eases this morning.
Efforts to reach Okoya, a loud businessman who enjoys the social circuit, last night failed as his mobile phone was switched off when THISDAY called.
