Attack on Ladoja's house: Akala orders probe

The governor's directive came as police detectives from the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), converged on the Ondo Street, Old Bodija, the scene of the incident, to gather information and extract evidences for forensic test that would lead them to the root of the attack.

The governor's directive came as police detectives from the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), converged on the Ondo Street, Old Bodija, the scene of the incident, to gather information and extract evidences for forensic test that would lead them to the root of the attack.

Ladoja's house was about to be attacked by yet to be identified suspected hoodlums when police personnel attached to the house repelled them, which eventually resulted to a gun duel that, residents claimed, lasted for about 40 minutes.

Although Ladoja was currently out of the country while members of his family have also been relocated from the house, the impact of the gun duel could be seen with platters of blood which dotted the Ondo Street to the popular Osuntokun junction.

Reacting to the attack yesterday, after a meeting with permanent secretaries, commissioners, special advisers and senior officials of the state on the foiled attack on Ladoja's house, Governor Alao-Akala urged the security operatives in the state to get to the root of the incident and ensure the long arm of the law catches up with those behind it.

Alao-Akala, who expressed worry over the attack, specifically appealed to security agencies in the state not to treat anybody linked with the failed attack as sacred cow, saying he too would one day become an ex-governor in the state.
Meanwhile, the attack on the former governor's house continued to remain a puzzle to police authorities in the state as police detectives claimed that the supposed platters of blood were not that of human beings.

Anti-riot police personnel attached to the house also claimed that they did not shoot anybody but rather fired into the air to scare away the intruders. But residents of the street maintained that they overheard cries of agony during the shooting spree.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), in charge of the SCID, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu, who led about 15 plain-clothed policemen to Ladoja house yesterday, told newsmen that they came to gather on-the-spot information that will assist them in getting to the root of the attack.

'We have come here to gather facts for forensic analysis so that we can ensure justice is done. We are scooping some facts for us to be able to solve some of the riddles surrounding the attack. We have established that some people came here to attack Ladoja's house.
We were told by our men on ground that there were gun shooting but we have not been able to confirm that anybody was killed", Lakanu stated.

He said nobody has been arrested so far since police were yet to receive any other information from any group or individual concerning the attack.
'But I assure you, we shall get to the root of this incident. We have our men on ground. We will dig into the matter, unearth its root and make our findings known", Lakanu pledged.
