oliPcemen from Ekiti State Command on Monday chased away over 100 youths who came to the State House of Assembly Complex in Ado-Ekiti in solidarity with the 13 lawmakers from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) for carrying out the legislative duties alone without their Action Congress (AC) counterparts.
Some of the youths who came to the complex in the morning flayed the 13 AC lawmakers who were nowhere to be found , for abandoning their duty post because of position of principal officers.
They shouted their support for any action the PDP lawmakers take .But Daily Sun gathered that the AC lawmakers were allegedly planning to come and instal their own Speaker so the rival party supporters quickly mobilized the youths to distabilize the event.
The police got a tip off that some youths were about to foment trouble at the Assembly so the out-going Ekiti State Commissioner of Police ,Ibezimako Aghanya led a team of policemen to the scene and dispersed the crowd.
Commissioner Aghanya who has been transfered to Kogi State said that the policemen he drafted to the state assembly are there to maintain law and order, adding that he would mobilize more policemen to the place.
Aghanya said that he worked with the best of his ability to bring down the rate of crime in the state to the minimal level and that the Ekiti people are grateful for that and in the same vein he would continue the crime fighting in Kogi State where he has been transfered to.
Meanwhile the policemen at the command received the news of the Commissioner's transfer with shock. When this reporter got to the Command, policemen wore long faces and walked sluggishly as if the death of someone very dear to them had just been announced.
But when probed further ,discovered that the out-going CP is dear to their hearts.The officers and rank and file spoke in anonymity .One Supol said ,"Look, this thing is getting too much.This is the kind of CP every policeman is praying to work under.He is self-discipline and treats even rank and file as if they are his children while also putting them on their toes to work harder and efficiently too.If i have my way , i will prefer to be transfered to anywhere he is going .But Ekiti people will miss him.They will miss his action."He said .
A corporal said "Oh! Better thing no dey last for one place.Everybody is saying this is the best CP they have ever seen.But all this our politicians in Ekiti will use politics to drive away the best materials for the State.I'm not saying that it was the hand work of politicians o.May be it is the normal transfer but it is too soon.He has not spent over two months.When they will see a wicked CP they will write their useless petition tire!"the corporal said.
