Special Adviser to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, said on Wednesday that the ministerial list has been forwarded to the State Security department and the Police for vetting.
Special Adviser to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, said on Wednesday that the ministerial list has been forwarded to the State Security department and the Police for vetting.
In a statement signed by her, Ita-Giwa said it was after the vetting by the security agencies that the list would be forwarded to the Senate for screening of the ministerial nominees.
According to the special adviser, contrary to speculations in some quarters, the list of the ministerial nominees was yet to be sent to the Senate, adding that the decision to forward the list for security scrutiny was borne out of the need to ensure that due process was followed.
The two paragraph statement, which was silent on the names of the nominees, reads in part: 'This has become necessary given Mr. President's directive that all necessary scrutiny requirements concerning the suggested names must be met before he makes a formal presentation to the Senate for final clearance.
It is also in line with Mr. President's regards for due process, thoroughness and circumspection, especially on a matter as serious as constituting a cabinet."
