Don't give any position to Obasanjo, Umar tells PDP, Yar'Adua

Former Military Governor of Kaduna State, Colonel Abubakar Dangiwa Umar (rtd), has warned against allowing former President Olusegun Obasanjo to hold any position in the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in particular and the country in general.

Former Military Governor of Kaduna State, Colonel Abubakar Dangiwa Umar (rtd), has warned against allowing former President Olusegun Obasanjo to hold any position in the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in particular and the country in general.

Umar told newsmen in Kaduna yesterday that the best thing President Umar Musa Yar'Adua can do for the country is not to allow Obasanjo hold any position in the party.
He noted that history will not forgive President Yar'Adua and the ruling PDP if the former president is given a leadership role to play in the party.

He argued that the eight years rulership of Obasanjo, under which the economy nose-dived and corruption indices heightened was enough to serve as a warning signal that his leadership role in Nigeria was no longer needed.

According to Umar, 'the former President should stay away from the politics of this country because he has created a lot of mess in the country. Despite all the pretences, it is now evident that he had ran the most corrupt administration in the history of this country.

'Those who are trying to embellish the performance of General Obasanjo in the last eight years are either ignorant of what happened or transpired, or are beneficiaries of his system or cronyism and fraud," he said.

The former governor who is also the President of the Movement for Unity and Progress, warned against any further appearance of Obasanjo at any political level or in the service of the country, saying that 'people are going to be embarrassed when the story of General Obasanjo's corruption is told.

'Obasanjo, with all the mess that we see around today in the area of socio-economic and political development, he cannot be said to be a statesman like some people are claiming; and we have facts to prove this and we will do so very soon.

"We will not allow Obasanjo's cronies to continue to insult us by distorting the facts of mal-administration. In due course, we shall expose him and his cronies with the available facts we have at our disposal."

Umar said he decided to sound the warning of not allowing Obasanjo to perform any leadership role in PDP to President Yar'Adua and the party hierarchy, 'in order for the party to chose credible people to run the party. But, definitely, Obasanjo is least qualified to hold any position in that party because of his anticidents."
