‘No crack in AC over Yar'Adua'

The Action Congress (AC) has said for the umpteenth time that there is no crack in the party over the invitation letter written to it by President Umaru Yar'Adua, clarifying that what the party received from the government was 'an invitation to treat" rather than an offer to be part of the administration.

The Action Congress (AC) has said for the umpteenth time that there is no crack in the party over the invitation letter written to it by President Umaru Yar'Adua, clarifying that what the party received from the government was 'an invitation to treat" rather than an offer to be part of the administration.

'No offer has been made to us, hence our ranks could not have been divided by a mere letter, which we have since replied to," the party said in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

'When we receive an offer from the administration, we will subject it to our party's usual democratic, decision-making process," it added.

AC said the spate of speculations in the local media about a supposed crack in the party, over whether or not, to serve in the Yar'Adua administration was nothing but a figment of imagination of the authors of such reports.

It urged those behind such speculations to desist, saying the party is stronger than ever.
'Our party is intact, our members are united and our determination to ensure the survival of democracy in our country is stronger than ever," the party assured.
