In addition, they were also urged to play politics decently and, not to fight politics by creating friendly a friendly environment for the actualization of the dream of all.
Chief Ebenzer Abiola Akinbolade, the immediate past Lagos State Commissioner for Establishment and Training, gave this advice in Lagos recently while fielding questions from journalists present at the civic reception to mark the conferment of the award of the member of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (CFR) on his Royal Majesty, Oba Stephen S. Adedugbe by the Ile-Oluji National Union, Lagos Branch.
Berating the lukewarm attitude of some politicians on the delivery of democratic dividends to the electorates, Akinbolade warned against heating the politics of the land.
He further congratulated Nigerians for witnessing for the first time ever a political transition of Nigeria, from one civilian tenure to another, devoid of any unrest, political wrangling or any disruption whatsoever.
Chief Akinbolade however pleaded with political aspirants at the just concluded gubernatorial elections in Lagos State especially, to please eschew their differences and work amicably with Governor Babatune Raji Fashola, for the continued sustenance of peace in the state.
Assessing the achievements of Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Akinbolade was all praise for the immediate past governor, saying he made enviable giant strides in improving the lot of Lagosians and also raising and sustaining political, economic and social stability and viability.
Describing the governor as a shrewd, intelligent and mature statesman, Akinbolade used the occasion to promptly assert that Governor Tinubu could have been the best Nigerian President of our time. He made particular reference to the revenue drive which saw internally generate revenue jump from N600million per month to N6 billion monthly.
In her contribution at the event, Mrs. Orelope Adefulure, Akinbolade's conterpart in the Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation ministry, expressed profound gratitude to Tinubu and the good people of Lagos State, more importantly the womenfolk, for the opportunity given her to serve them. She assured them of a better, greater, secured tomorrow, provided they organized themselves into a common front to fight against those vices that had hitherto held them down.
Welcoming the Kabiyesi, President of the union, Dr. Akinyele Adegoke, extolled the virtues of Oba Adedugbe, which he said, has endeared him very dearly in the minds of his numerous subjects, home and abroad.
Adegoke who is the Immediate Past President, Rotary Club of Agege, former Senior Manager, Human Resources Ltd, Lagos, reiterated on the need for Kabiyesi to impress it on all politicians to form a common front, in obtaining their rights, in the political terrain, for the benefit of the township and its people. Adegoke was of the view that it was through such stride that they would add value to the quality of lives of the area.
