Muhammadu  Junaida (C.1910-)

Poet. Philosopher and legal expert, Dr. Junaidu is the greatest living authority on the Sokoto Caliphate and the Fulani Jihad of the last century.  A respected guardian of the Archives of the Caliphate, he has written over thirty books in Arabic on the wide ranging subjects such as Sokoto history, Fulfude grammar, poetry, law reform and Administration among others.  Many scholars have benefited immeasurably from his great learning and possession of original and authentic source material on Sokoto history.  He was awarded the NNOM in 1981.
