Nigerians on social media have attacked the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike over reckless spending on Grammy award-winning artiste, Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy and other musicians in the state.
Mr Wike on Saturday hosted Burna Boy, his family members and management team in Portharcourt.
He expressed his satisfaction over the achievement of the musician for winning the Best Global Music Album category with his Twice As Tall album at Grammy Award.
Speaking at the homecoming party, Mr Wike announced that all musicians who performed at the event would go home with N10 million gift each.
“Those of you who have come to play, whatever you have agreed with the ministry of culture and tourism is not my business.
“All of you that have come today and the Niger Delta people that have come to play today to show the talent you have, I’m very proud of you. All of you will go home with N10 million each,” he said as he got cheers from the audience,” he said in a viral video.
Mr Wike’s comments have, however, triggered controversy on Twitter.
