Genres: World/Reggae / Reggae / Gospel Reggae
Born as Vincent Nyam, on 6th May 1978, he is the last of seven sons and two daughters born to late Mr Christopher Nyam and to Mrs Mary Bi Nyam. He is an indigene of Jos North, in Plateau State of Nigeria.
Since he was born and brought up in Jos, Jah Device has now risen to become musically and lyrically acclaimed as one of the best Reggae musicians to rise from North of the Niger River (PMAN Rating). The range of his fast growing fans extends beyond the shores of Nigeria.
The musical interest of Jah Device started from way back to his primary school days. Well schooled by Rev. Fr. Fergus Tuohy, SMA, Jah Device began his professional career in 1994, as a member of the Promotional Talent Club (P.T.C.), and he has since then featured in the Club’s Talent Sunsplash. Despite his having been exposed to a variety of music from early age, his passion for Reggae music has made him adopt it as the best medium for publicly unleashing the fire of love and social justice burning within him. In this he was well influenced by his elder brothers who always played sweet Carribean tunes, filling the family house with reggae music creating a skanking atmosphere. His passion for live performances dates back to the times when his elder brother, Rev. Fr. Dr. Joseph Nyam gave him his first taste of musical instruments.
A member of the Performance Music Artists Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Jah Device is a graduate of Accounting and Finance from the Plateau State Polytechnic and a Student of Sound Engineering and Acoustics -
