Police, Soldiers: United In A Cause ... Is it not ironical that despite the constant face - off between the Nigerian Police Force and the Soldiers, they remain united in a cause of jointly extorting money from commercial drivers and motorcyclists in disguise of maintainaing laws and orders in the highways.Late last month, the Ekiti state governor,Ayo Fayose caught some miscreants in the force red-handed extorting money from commercial drivers; and reported the case to the state commissioner of police to warned his men to desist from the illegal act. There is an out cry on this unpatriotic act of the force, despite this,it seems there is no concrete measure to nip the menace in the bud; especially when soldiers have joined the police in the act and this will no doubt increase extra judicial killings in the country.I hereby called on the acting inspector general of police ,Mr.Sunday Ehindero and the president,Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to act quickly with the composition of a standing committee that will check the excesses of the Nigeria force.Jamiu Folarin Mass comm Dept.Olabisi Onabanjo University,Ago Iwoye, Ogun State.
