PPA Winds up Door to Door Electoral Campaign Exercise; as Princewill Urges Voters to Convert Overwhelming Support to Physical Votes on Election Dates By Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze,Yesterday the 30th of March 2011, the Princewill Political Associates (PPA) one of the leading political pressure groups in the Niger Delta region concluded its door to door electoral campaign initiative in Rivers State. The exercise was one of the various programmes embarked upon by the PPA in support of the re-election bid of the incumbent governor of Rivers State Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi at the April 2011 polls. The one week exercise apart from drumming up support for Amaechi, also served as a vehicle for rallying support for all PDP candidates in the State. Highlights included voters’ education and distribution of enlightenment fliers. Areas covered during the exercise, include sections of Port Harcourt, Obio Akpor and Ikwerre LGA as well as Local Governments in the Kalabari Kingdom and Ogoni axis of the State. It was quite a rewarding exercise as members of the PPA through its interactions with the public, got to experience up close the tremendous support the Amaechi led government enjoys in the state. According to Prince Tonye Princewill who led some parts of the exercise, “if what I have observed so far is used as a tool to predict the outcome of the April general election in Rivers State, then it won’t be out of turn to say that the PDP candidates have given their opponents a wide berth in their dash towards breasting the victory tape”. He however stated the need for caution and urged all PDP supporters to convert their overwhelming support to physical presence at the polling booths and actual voting on election days adding that with the just concluded campaign trail that covered all the 23 local government areas in the State and the attendant pomp and pageantry with which the campaign train led by the amiable Governor was received, it would be a travesty if such passion was not exhibited on election day by way of coming out by the numbers to vote when it really counts. He urged everyone not to lose focus on the need to ensure that Amaechi returns to consolidate on all the developmental programmes he has started in the state as well as ensuring the sanctity of life and property. The PPA Leader also left Port Harcourt for Buguma his hometown yesterday to supervise the preparations by the PDP in the area but not before he inaugurated four Committees ahead of the April Polls, they are Monitoring headed by Dr. Ibiamu Ikanya, Logistics headed by Mr. Dagogo Emmanuel, Contacts Committee headed by Bishop Boma Lewson and Media Committee headed by Chief Eze C Eze.
