There seems to be compelling evidence of a change in the scientific and contempory understanding of fatherhood and family. Studies on fatherhood and family heritage indicate that men are equal partners and parents to children in every family.
Demographic studies as we know and experience have enriched empirical literature, while theories have redefined conceptual frameworks designed to elucidate fatherhood, father-child relationships, and paternal roles (Lamb et al, 2002).
Scholars on gender and family studies recognize the diverse array of fatherhood and socio-cultural expectations and demand these factors to shape paternal roles, family process, and child's development. This implies that fathers play different roles in different sub-cultural context and various groups hold contrasting views of what constitute good father (Hochchild, 1995).

New studies reveal that family and fatherhood is on the cultural and policy agenda in many countries of the world. But before this exploratory assessment, the expression of fatherhood ideas were cast in some crisis and dispair mode. Men who come from cultures similar to African values are often times described as deadbeat. As a result, some men are called Dad who do nothing to provide for the family or care for wife and children.

In diverse cultural heritage, breading, financial security maybe the a major role of a father while in another culture; the chief concern maybe moral guidiance  and financial support. This perspective however eschrews, fatherhood breading  in other countries. Summarily, fatherhood roles encompass direct care, super vision, and emotional suppot.
