NFA , retain Golden Eaglets, Tella Against the backdrop of the Golden Eaglets’ success in lifting the FIFA U-17 World Championship (at the end of the final match of South Korea 2007 between Nigeria and Spain), due to professional and skillful handling of the team by the Chief Coach, Tella, and the discipline, dogedness and the team spirit exhibited by the players; the team and its coach should be maintained and fully rewarded. This is because they did the nation proud and have also portrayed a good image of the country in support of the agenda of President Umar Musa YarAdua resolve to take the nations to greater height in no far distance. I believe that the promising team will fly in lifting subsequent trophies. However, I implore the Nigeria Football Association, NFA, to maintain the present squad of Golden Eaglets, especially those players like Macauley Chrisantus , Haruna, Oladele Ajiboye, Matthew Edile, Daniel Joshua, Ibrahim Rabiu, Ganiyu Osei, Laide Okanlawon and other members of the team. These players must be encouraged and kept in close contact with one another so that they will make the country proud again in subsequent competitions. This can be achieved by ensuring that their entitlements are paid regularly and friendly matches are organised for the Eaglets to further strengthen the team’s cohesion. Also, politics must not be allowed to consume this prestigious team, as has always been the case each time a team attains global status. The coach of the team, Tella , must be duly rewarded and encouraged for the professional and successful handling of the team. If these can be done, the team will, no doubt, soon become the best in the world of football and subsequently we shall soon take our rightful position in the FIFA ranking.
