Our attention has been drawn to the statements in the media credited to the group calling itself the Riverine-Ijaw Consultative Assembly.

We wish to use this medium to call on all well meaning Nigerians who desire the unity and progress of this State to disregard whatever statements made against our leader and PDP flag beaerer, Sir Celestine Omehia.

It is quite disheartening to note that despite the various efforts by Governor Peter Odili to key in the people of the Riverine into the mainstream politics of Rivers State, there are still some disgruntled elements who are we think are paid to bring disunity in Rivers State by talking about the upland/riverine dichotomy which was buried long time ago.

It will be recalled that the Riverine people have for eight (8) years being had equal representation in the politics of the State and at the Federal Level. Prominent persons like Dr. Abiye Sekibo, former SSG and former Transport minister, Chief David Briggs, , Chief Pawariso Horsfall (who have being in Odili’s Government for eight (8) years, Alabo Graham Douglas, Dr. Mrs. Okujagu, current Special Adviser to the Governor, Emily Solomon, a serving Commissioner, Ben Orugbani, Commissioner Civil Service Commission, Senator Tari Sekibo, Mr. Ipalibo Harry, Special Adviser to Gov. Odili, to mention but a few.

We are not happy that the sponsors of this paid article have chosen the path of malice and ill will to poison the minds of Rivers against a man chosen by God to continue the developmental strides of Sir Dr. Peter Odili.

We the Coalition of Good Governance to remind RICA and its cohorts whose stock-in-trade is to encourage violence in the State by their unguarded utterances, that the peaceful and loving people of the State cannot fold their hands any more and watch beneficiaries of the God-given resources of Rivers State, rubbish the image of our sons, Sir Omehia, particularly now that it has been proved that peoples circumstances can change when God takes their destiny in His hands.

While we remain committed to the unity of our dear Rivers State, we warn all those engaged in smearing the name of our leader, whose efforts is to ensure that the country Rivers State does not break up, to desist from such acts.

The Coalition for Good Governance is a non-governmental organisation, which deserves the right to respond to issues that affect the State. The youths do not need to be sponsored in order to take whatever action they consider inimical to the unity and progress of the country.

We therefore urge the leadership of our dear State and the Great, PDP as well as law enforcement agencies to call to order those who make these unguarded statements that are capable of erupting violence, otherwise, we the Coalition for Good Governance and the peace loving people of Rivers State will rise up to resist every attempt to humiliate our illustrious son and more so the leader of the PDP in the State, Governor Peter Odili.
